Date(s) - 27/04/2019
7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

International House, Alonso Martínez

The next session of Wineclub will take place on  Saturday 27th of April at 19.30hrs in IH Alonso Martínez.
In session 3, we will focus on red wines from the Garnacha/Grenache grape variety, which has until recently  “been reviled or at least best ignored in much of the world” although it is the grape that is “responsible for two of the world’s most celebrated reds, Chateauneuf -du-Pape- and, a more recent star, Priorat”. (Jancis Robinson).

To get a good overview of Garnacha based reds, we will initially be tasting wines from Madrid, Calatayud, Almansa and the Rhone Valley in France. With this selection we will get a good feel for reds that are aromatically intense, with ripe red and black fruits and lots of body.
If you’re interested in learning more about Garnacha/Grenache, the following article by Jancis Robinson gives a good overview.
Hope to see you there!

This session costs 18 euros per person.

Above – session 2 of Wine Tasting, , in the Carlotta Wine Shop.

Wine is meant to be enjoyed! This is especially the case if you find yourself in Spain, which is the world’s third largest producer of wine. But do you get stressed choosing a wine at a restaurant, the local supermarket or specialised wine shop? Or do you just want to get your taste buds working and enjoy different wines? Which ever the case, the IH Wine Club will take you through the basic steps of tasting, the identification of typical wine aromas and quality as well as the importance of “terroir”. In the tasting sessions we will taste wines from different grape varieties and regions of Spain and analyse their similarities and/or differences with other European and New World wines.
